At a fast-food thrive-thru, I asked for a large-size cup, but a medium-quantity drink. I was told that wasn’t possible; a large-size cup required a large drink. Then I asked them to please put the large drink into a medium-sized cup. After much confused discussion at the drive-thru window, eventually they decided that was permitted. Meanwhile, the line of cars backed-up at the pick-up window wrapped all the way around the building.
